    Sopilka Ukrainian Dance School – May 2013


    Taken at the Sopilka dress rehearsal, I was there to help prepare the kids I teach for the stage rather than to take photos.

    I, along with two others, instruct these young dancers. Seen above performing “hopak” the crowning jewel of Ukrainian dance, they exhibit talent way beyond their young years–average age is probably 11!

    Liz – May 2013


    Graduated from the University of Manitoba and moving to Toronto to do her Masters at U of T, Liz asked me to take some photos for an upcoming website.

    Although finding a nice space with a grand piano proved to be difficult in Winnipeg, Liz was fantastic to work with and I am extremely pleased with the resulting images.

    Banff – April 2013


    Had the chance to perform in Banff as a headlining group for the Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival with the University of Manitoba Singers. What an amazing choral experience it was to sing for 1700 enthusiastic young choristers.

    Just a few snapshots from the top of the gondola. Little free time, as a consequence of 4 concerts in 24 hours.

    Lisa – April 2013

    I got a message last night from Lisa saying that she needed some photos done by tomorrow for a summer program in Ottawa. I tossed my camera in my backpack and shot these at school with available light. I really like how they turned out.

    Natalie – March 2013.

    I rented a studio for the first time ever to shoot some photos for a friend–who happens to be an amazing cellist and is graduating this year. 

    Natalie was incredibly patient with me as I tried to figure out how to use the lights in a semi-decent manner; in the photo of her playing I was using four strobes.

    I jumped back to natural light for the other three shots above. Overall, getting pretty pleased with my work. There is something about the last photo I really like.
